| - Kniha pojednává o vývoji středního školství a jeho místu v procesu formování inteligence na území severní Moravy a Slezska ve druhé polovině 19. a na počátku 20. sotletí. Východiskem autora je premisa, že právě střední školy tohoto období lze považovat za skutečné producenty převážné části sociální skupiny inteligence. V monografii jsou načrtnuty základní aspekty a trendy rozvoje středního školství nejen na území Moravy a Slezska, ale i celého Předlitavska v kontextu probíhajícího modernizačního procesu a společenské transformace. Středem pozornosti komparativně pojaté práce jsou struktury středoškolských studentů z hlediska jejich teritoriálního původu a sociokulturních znaků (vyznání, etnický a sociální původ). Cílem je zjistit, z jakého prostředí pocházeli studenti středních škol a jaké prostředí tedy formovalo představitele inteligence druhé poloviny 19. a počátku 20. století.

- The book deals with the development of secondary schools and their place in the process of intelligentsia formation in the territory of the Northern Moravia and Silesia in the second half of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century. The starting point of the author is a premise that secondary schools of this period are able to be considered as real producers of the best part of intelligentsia. In the monograph there is a outline of essential aspects and trends of the development of secondary schools not only in Moravia and Silesia, but also throughout Cisleithania in the context of proceeding processes of modernization and social transformation. The main point of the comparative work is focused on structures of students in the term of their territorial origin and sociocultural attributes (religion, ethnic and social origin) in the period from mid-19th century till the beginning of World War I.
