Description	The paper deals with effective writing in terms of creating academic texts, particularly research articles. Viewing text as a site for interaction amongst writer and reader science texts can be understood as a complex of certain communication strategies the knowledge of which may substantially improve the resulting text?s quality. The communication strategy in focus is the use of textual/linguistic signalling mostly realized through clause relations and especially lexical cohesion, which commonly creates multiple relationships and hence it is the leading mode of creating texture. We study how the theoretical concept of lexical cohesion is put into practice in particular professional texts: the aim is to attempt at practical application of theoretical concepts. The research is based on a corpus English economics research articles from The Economic Journal comprising 40,000 words.
