Description
| - Study examines the association between individualised care and patient satisfaction in a surgical patients from 5 EU countries. A cross-sectional design, to collect data from general surgical patients (N=1315) in 72 in-patient wards in 26 hospitals? (2009) using the Individualised Care Scale (ICS) and the Patient Satisfaction Scale (PSS). Data analysed - descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and Multiple Stepwise Regression. Patients reported that the care they received was only moderately individualised overall but individuality was taken into account well in patients? clinical situation and decisional control over care. They were satisfied with care, mostly technical aspects and least with the information given. There were between country differences in perceptions of individuality and patient satisfaction. A positive correlation demonstrated that this quality of care indicator might be able to be used as a predictor of patient satisfaction, one outcome of care.
