  • To widen the gene pool of cool season turfgrasses, intergeneric tetraploid hybrids of Festuca pratensis Hudson with Lolium perenne L. and L. multiflorum Lam. are being screened for desirable turf characteristics. Anther culture was used to reduce their ploidy level to diploid. Of the 37 557 anthers cultured, 1986 green and 904 albino plantlets were regenerated with large differences in androgenic responses among the genotypes tested. Lolium perenne regenerated only albino plants, and that with a low frequency, while in F. pratensis x L. perenne and L. multiflorum x F. pratensis hybrids 3.7 and 25.5 green plants per 100 anthers cultured were recovered, respectively. Chromosome numbers among the progeny ranged from 13 to 56, with a majority being diploid (about 14) or tetraploid (about 28). The rates of spontaneous chromosome doubling were 50% in L. multiflorum, 25.7% in L. multiflorum X F. pratensis, and 8.3% in F. pratensis X L. perenne hybrids.   • Pro rozšíření genofondu chladnomilných trávníkových trav byly prověřovány tetraploidní mezirodové hybridy druhu Festuca pratensis Hudson s druhy Lolium perenne L. a L. multiflorum Lam. K redukci ploidie na diploidní úroveň byly použity prašníkové kultury. Z 37 557 kultivovaných prašníků bylo regenerováno 1986 zelených a 904 albikátních rostlin s velkými rozdíly mezi genotypy. U druhu Lolium perenne regenerovaly pouze albikátní rostliny, a to ještě s nízkou frekvencí, zatímco u hybridů F. pratensis x L. perenne a L. multiflorum x F. pratensis bylo odvozeno 3.7 a 25.5 zelených rostlin na 100 kultivovaných prašníků. Počet chromozómů mezi potomstvem kolísal mezi 13 a 56, přičemž většina byla diploidní (asi 14) nebo tetraploidní (asi 28). Spontánní polyhaploidizace se vyskytovyla u 50% regenerantů u L. multiflorum, u 25.7% regenerantů u hybridu L. multiflorum x F. pratensis, a u 8.3% regenerantů u hybridu F. pratensis x L. perenne.
