  • Polyethylen s ultravysokou molekulovou vahou (UHMWPE) se používá jako klíčová komponenta kloubních náhrad (TJR). UHMWPE pro TJR se obvykle modifikuje pomocí ozařování a tepelných úprav tak, aby se zvýšila odolnost polymeru vůči otěru. V naší práci byl UHMWPE modifikován třemi různými způsoby, lišícími se dávkovou rychlostí a/nebo okolní atmosférou při ozařování. Pomocí řady reologických měření, studia struktury a otěrových experimentů jsme prokázali, že vysoká dávková rychlost v inertní atmosféře vede k vyššímu zesítění a otěrové odolnosti UHMWPE. (cs)
  • Ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is used as a bearing material in total joint replacements (TJR). UHMWPE for TJR is usually modified by irradiation and thermal treatment to increase wear resistance. We modified UHMWPE in three ways, differing in radiation dose-rate and/or atmosphere during irradiation. Using a number of rheological measurements, morphological investigations and wear testing experiments we proved that higher dose rates at inert atmosphere lead to higher crosslinking and higher wear resistance of UHMWPE.
