  • Vysokomolekulární polyethylen (UHMWPE) se využívá v ortopedii jako klíčová komponenta kloubních náhrad. V této práci představujeme novou kontrastovací metodu, která umožňuje zviditelnit krystalické lamely UHMWPE v transmisním elektronovém mikroskopu (TEM). Zmíněná metoda spočívá v jednokrokovém kontrastování pomocí olea (roztok SO3 v H2SO4) po dobu 4 dnů a následné přípravě ultratenkých řezů. Tento postup je výrazně jednodušší než dříve popsané techniky a přitom poskytuje mikrofotografie stejné kvality. (cs)

In this study we introduce a new staining method that makes it possible to visualize the UHMWPE lamellae by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The method consists of one-step staining with oleum (H2SO4 solution of SO3) for 4 days and ultramicrotomy; this is significantly simpler than previously described techniques and yields micrographs of the same quality.
