  • Two high-resolution neutron diffractomers dedicated to strain/stress investigations in polycrystalline materials are routinely operated at the medium-power reactor LVR-15 in Řež and are also opened for external users. Good lumimosity ofthe divvractometers and a sufficiently high-resolution (FWHM of the instrumental .delta.dd - profile can be less than 2x10.sup.-3./sup. at d.sub.hkl./sub. =0.2 nm) permit investigations of both the macro- and microstrains in the sample gauge volumes of several cubic millimetres. Excellent properties and abilities of the neutron diffraction strain scanners are documented by some results of experimental measurements.
