Description
| - Během dvacátého století se klasická teorie nukleace (CNT) vyvinula v jednoduchý a silný nástroj pro popis nukleačních procesů v plynných směsích. I když je velmi úspěšná při zkoumání směsí, které jsou bezmála ideální, v mnoha případech se předpovědi CNT rozcházejí s experimentálními daty, např. pro binární směsi vody s alkoholy. V minulosti se proto objevilo několik vylepšení CNT, ovšem žádné nezískalo naši důvěru. Důsledně jsme tedy prozkoumali odvození CNT a zjistili, že při správném použití je CNT přesná dokonce i pro neideální systémy. (cs)
- The classical nucleation theory (CNT) evolved during the last century into a powerful yet simple tool to describe and predict nucleation processes in gaseous mixtures. Although it is successful when dealing with pure substances or near-ideal mixtures, there are cases when the CNT predicts substantially different results from those obtained from nucleation experiments. The binary mixtures of water and alcohols are often mentioned as typical “CNT killers”. Trying to improve the CNT precision, several enhancements of the CNT appeared in the last two decades. As none of these revisions gained our confidence, we have carefully reviewed the derivation of the CNT formulas. We found out that the bare CNT is able predict even highly non-ideal mixtures precisely enough when employed correctly.
