  • Ultrafine nanometer sized goethite FeO(OH), boehmite AlO(OH), grimaldiite CrO(OH) and anatase TiO2 have been synthesized by homogeneous precipitation from aqueous solution containing urea in the presence of metal sulfate. Metal(hydrous)-oxide particles at the final stage of growth are approximately spherical in shape and showed a significant degree of agglomeration. The resulting metal-oxide hydroxides are characterized-using Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray microanalysis (EDX).
