Description	Cells of the yeast S. cerevisiae divide asymmetrically, giving rise to a large mother cell and a smaller daughter cell; the mother cell accumulates all aging-connected changes. This asymmetry is disturbed in the short lived oncogene mutant RAS2val19, which has also higher sensitivity to starvation and heat shocks. Daughter cells show some of the markers of apoptosis such as DNA breaks and with aberrant morphology of the nucleus. Mateřská buňka, ne však dceřinná buňka, vykazuje znaky stárnutí. Tato asymetrie je porušena u oncogenního mutanta RAS2val19 s krátkou dobou života a zvýšenou citlivostí ke hladovění a teplotnímu šoku. Zde dceřinné buňky vykazují znaky apoptosy, např. zlomy DNA a aberantní morfologii jádra. Srovnání množství extrachromosomálních kruhů DNA v mladých a starých buňkách divokého kmene a mutanta RAS2val19 ukazuje, že předčasné stárnutí je spojeno se symetrickým dělením, při němž dceřinná buňka dědí některé rysy stárnutí.
