Description
  • E-1-nitropentadec-1-ene was found to be the major component from the frontal gland of soldiers of three Prorhinotermes species, P. canalifrons, P. inopinatus, and P. simplex together with four other 1-nitroalkenes and two nitrodienes. In addition sesquiterpene hydrocarbons were also detected and proved in species-specific mixtures. The biological significance of the chemodiversity is discussed.
