Description
| - Here we describe aspartic proteases Sap9 and Sap10 of Candida albicans, which have structural similarities to yapsins of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Sap9 and Sap10 are located in the cell membrane or the cell wall. Both proteases are glycosylated, cleave at dibasic or basic processing sites, and have functions in cell surface integrity and cell separation during budding. Deletion of SAP9 and SAP10 genes modified the adhesion properties of C. albicans to epithelial cells. These proteases have a unique role in cellular processes and host-pathogen interactions.

- Aspartátové proteasy Sap 9 a Sap10 z Candida albicans, které jsou zakotvené v buněčné stěně nebo membráně, jsou strukturně podobné yapsinům ze Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Obě proteasy jsou glykosylované, štěpí substráty v sekvenci za bazickými či dibazickými aminokyselinami a hrají roli v integritě buněčného povrchu a oddělení buněk při pučení. Delece genů SAP9 a SAP10 z genomu kvasinky změnila adhézní vlastnosti C. albicans k epitheliálním buňkám. Obě proteasy mají unikátní roli v buněčných procesech patogenní kvasinky a v její interakci s hostitelskými buňkami. (cs)
