| - Ontogeneze kasty vojáka u druhu Prorhinotermes simplex byla studována s důrazem na instarový původ vojáků, trvání stadia bílého vojáka a změny vnější anatomie během morfogeneze vojáka. Vojáci se mohou vyvíjet z larev druhého instaru a starších přes stadium bílého vojáka trvající 13-17 dní. Rané instary vojáka lze nalézt v mladých koloniích, dospělé kolonie obsahují pouze vojáky pokročilých instarů. Žádné funkční rozdíly mezi vojáky různých instarů nebyly nalezeny. Složení sekrece frontální žlázy je srovnatelné u všech šesti studovaných instarů vojáka. Sekrece obsahuje výjimečně velké množství obranné látky (E)-1-nitropentadecenu spolu s pravděpodobným poplašným feromonem (Z,E)-alfa-farnesenem. Strategie produkce vojáků je diskutována. (cs)
- The ontogeny of the soldier caste in Prorhinotermes simplex was studied with emphasis on the instar origin of soldiers, the duration of the presoldier stage, and changes in external anatomy during the soldier morphogenesis. The soldier can develop from larvae of the second instar and older via a presoldier stage lasting 13-17 days. The early soldier instars are in incipient colonies while the mature colony contains late instar soldiers only. No functional differences in external anatomy were found among the six soldier instars. The composition of the frontal gland secretion is similar in the six soldier instars, an extraordinarily high amount of a defensive substance, (E)-1-nitropentadecene, was detected together with (Z,E)-alpha-farnesene, presumably an alarm substance. The strategy of soldier production is discussed.
