  • X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) method was used to study the adsorption of lead, cadmium and zinc ions from 0.5 M acetate solution for 20, 40 and 60 hours on the natural clay minerals:smectite, kaolinite and illite. All cllay minerals are able to adsorb heavy metals but they differ in their adsorption capacities. After 20 hours illite has higher adsorption capacity to Zn, Cd and Pb as compared with smectite and kaolinite. This relatively greater adsorption capacity of illite to heavy metals may be attributed to a relatively higher interlayer charge of illite as compared with smectite and kaolinite.

  • Metoda fotoelektronové spektroskopie s excitací X-zářením (XPS) byla použita ke studiu adsorpce olova, kadmia a zinku z 0,5 M roztoku acetátu. Rozsah adsorpce na přírodních jílových minerálech smektitu, kaolinitu a illitu byl studován po 20, 40 a 60 hodinách. K adsorpci kovů docházelo na všech minerálech, avšak jednotlivé minerály se navzájem lišily v adsorpčních kapacitách. Po 20 hodinách vykazoval illit ve srovnání se smektitem a kaolinitem větší adsorpční kapacitu. Tento rozdíl lze přisoudit vyššímu mezivrstevnému náboji u illitu. (cs)
