Description
  • Aim of this work is to investigate process of reactive granulation, where Na2CO3 acts as a primary particles and dodecylbenzen-sulfonic acid (HLAS) as a binder. Specific of this process is that HLAS acts as a binder and also as reactant which reacts on NaLAS (sodium salt). NaLAS is currently one of the most common anionic surfactants producing in detergent industry. Since binder directly create active component, amount and conversion of binder is preferred to be controlled. In recent work addition with stoichiometric excess was investigated. In this work granulation with repeated binder additions was object of investigation. Water produced as side-product of neutralization reaction is accumulated within powder bed and enhances conversion of next added HLAS. Contribution of changing mode of mixing due to presence of bigger particles was proved too. Described effects were mostly applied in case of using fine powders (under 71 ?m). Fraction capacity of pure HLAS depends linearly on specific surface area and also depends on binder viscosity. According to used powder different dependencies on binder viscosity was observed (increasing, constant and decreasing). Evolution of averaged granule size during granulation cycle was observed and different mixing modes were described with their consequences (e.g. attrition).
