  • Previous studies in our laboratory showed methodology of preparing alginate particles immobilizing thermosensitive liposomes containing a model substance [1]. Those particles are able to store substances inside until heated. These particles are stable in diluted buffers, but they dissolve in isotonic solutions in a few hours. Before modifying their surface by antibodies and their in vitro specific adhesion and release tests, the mechanical and chemical stability in isotonic buffers must be improved. Calcium alginate gel particles will be therefore modified, the most perspective method seems to be utilization of chitosan as a co-crosslinker (together with Ca2+) and/or precipitation of thin silica layer on their surface.
