Description	Cross-calibration of dual-stage detector is a very important procedure that enables extension of a dynamic range of an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer. A calibration procedure based on the measurements of the intensities of argon plasma ions and matrix ions protects the spectrometer against contaminations; however, it can lead to the misinterpretation of the measured data, especially in the high atomic mass region. Calibration procedures based on the measurement of the intensities of argon plasma and matrix ions and of metal ions were mutually compared. Exemplary determination results for manganese (0-200 ng/mL), cesium (0-50 ng/mL) and lead (0-100 ng/mL) showed that only the dual detector calibration based on metal ions intensities measurements gives linear calibration plots.
