Description	The stability of the p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene-tetrakis(N,N-diethylacetamide)-K complex was detd. in a C6H5NO2 soln. satd. with H2O. Extn. expts. were performed for an aq. soln. of KCl in a C6H5NO2 soln. of the calix[4]arene and Na-dicarbollylcobaltate. The 2-phase water-KCl-nitrobenzene-NaDCC extn. system is described by the following equation: K+(aq) + NaL+(nb) KL+(nb) + Na+(aq). The Na+/K+ selectivity for the system is equal to a value of 103.7. This value is even higher than that for the Na-ionophore didecalino-16-crown-5 system which shows an extremely high selectivity for Na+ over K+ (103.0).
