  • Bylo modelováno lámání krystalů jehlového tvaru v náhodně sypané vrstvě vlivem jednoosého stlačování za použití metody DEM. Krystaly se zvoleným poměrem stran byly vytvořeny spojením kulatých částic. Ohebnost a síla spojující jednotlivé částice je také zvolena. Náhodně sypaná vrstva krystalů je následně stlačena mezi dvě vodorovné desky. Poté byla studována distribuce velikostí částic jako funkce poměru stran a ohebnosti. (cs)
  • The breakage of needle-shaped particles within a randomly packed layer subjected to uni-directional compaction and shear has been simulated using the Discrete Element Method (DEM). Elongated particles with a chosen aspect ratio have been created by linking individual spherical discrete elements by bonds with a large elongational stiffness and given values of bending stiffness and ultimate bending strength. A randomly packed layer of these elongated particles has been formed and gradually compressed between two infinite parallel solid planes. The particle size distribution as function the compaction ratio and the bending strength has been recorded.
