| - The limiting activity coefficient is the fundamental thermodynamic quantity describing the behaviour of a non-electrolyte solute at a state of its infinite dilution in a solvent and the key parameter governing fluid phase equilibria in highly dilute solutions. Since extrapolations from measurements on concentrated solutions yield generally unreliable results, specialized methods allowing precise and accurate measurements directly in the highly dilute range have been developed. This chapter provides an up-to-date overview of the existing experimental techniques for determination of limiting activity coefficients using analytical tools like chromatography, spectrometry, etc. The principles, specific features, accuracy, and applicability of these techniques are discussed. Covered are methods using retention time measurements in GLC, headspace methods of analysis, static mass balance methods, rate measurements on continuous gas-liquid separation processes, and distillation methods.

- Limitní aktivitní koeficient je funamentální termodynamickou veličinou popisující chování neelektrolytu ve stavu nekonečného zředění v rozpouštědle a klíčovým parametrem řídícím fázové rovnováhy ve vysoce zředěných roztocích. Jelikož extrapolace měření na koncentrovaných roztocích poskytují obecně nespolehlivé výsledky, byly vyvinuty specializované metody dovolující spolehlivá a přesná měření přímo v oblasti vysokých zředění. Tato kapitola podává aktuální přehled o existujících experimentálních technikách ke stanovení limitních aktivitních koeficientů s využitím analytických nástrojů jako jsou chromatografie, spektrometrie, apod. Jsou diskutovány principy, specifické rysy, přesnost a aplikabilita těchto technik. Přehled zahrnuje metody užívající měření retenčního času v GLC, metody headspace analýzy, statické metody založené na látkové bilanci, kinetická měření na kontinuálních separačních procesech plyn-kapalina a destilační metody.
