  • Periodically operated NOx storage and reduction converters represent a technology that is able to eliminate the emissions of nitrogen oxides from lean-burn engines (e.g., diesel). Laboratory experiments on transient behaviour of an NOx storage catalyst have been performed. Dependence of the NOx storage capacity on the position in the monolith has been studied. Large series of experiments have been performed with the catalyst samples, focused on the temperature dependence of the NOx and oxygen storage capacities, the light-off temperatures of CO, H2 and C3H6 oxidation, NO/NO2 transformation, water gas shift, steam reforming, and NO reduction, including the effects of the reductants (CO, H2 and C3H6) concentration and duration of the enrichment phase. A heterogeneous, spatially distributed mathematical model of the converter has been developed and the reaction-kinetic parameters have been evaluated from the experiments.

  • Periodicky provozované katalysátory s ukládáním a redukcí NOx představují technologii, která je schopná odstraňovat emise oxidů dusíku z výfukových plynů, produkovaných motory spalujícími chudou směs (např. diesely). Pomocí laboratorních experimentů bylo zkoumáno dynamické chování katalysátoru s ukládáním NOx. Byla studována závislost kapacity pro ukládání NOx na prostorové souřadnici uvnitř monolitického konvertoru. Pomocí rozsáhlého experimentálního plánu byly zkoumány: teplotní závislost kapacity pro ukládání kyslíku a NOx, teploty zapálení oxidace CO H2 a C3H6, transformace NO/NO2, konverse vodního plynu, parní reforming, a redukce NO, včetně vlivu koncentrace redukčních složek (CO, H2 a C3H6) a délky aplikace bohaté směsi. Byl vyvinut heterogenní, prostorově rozložený matematický model konvertoru a z experimentů byly vyhodnoceny reakčně-kinetické parametry. (cs)
