Description
  • The gaseous emissions from hardboard mill contain both volatile and condensable organic compounds, as well as fine wood and other very small particulate material. As the transformations in the biofilm and the media during optimal biofiltration operations are not well understood, the main aim of this project was to characterize the biofilm formed on the media during the biofiltration process using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and the FT-IR Microscope. This work suggests that while FT-IR spectral information can provide some useful insights to biofilm coverages and quality within media sections, more work and measurements will be needed to correlate the information to biofiltration performance and optimization.

  • Plynné emise z továrny vyrábějící dřevovláknité desky obsahují jak těkavé a kondenzující organické látky tak částice dřeva a jiných materiálů. Protože procesy v biofilmu a v náplňovém materiálu v průběhu provozu biofiltru známy příliš dobře, hlavní cíl této práce je charakterizace tvorby biofilmu na náplňovém materiálu pomocí Fourierovi transformace infračervených spekter (FT-IR) a FT-IR mikroskopu. Práce ukázala, že zatímco informace z FT-IR mohou poskytnout užitečné informace ohledně tvorby, složení a kvality biofilmu, mnoho úsilí je třeba ještě vynaložit na zpřesnění a optimalizaci vztahů spekter a provozu biofiltru.
