  • This study describes the structure of a control system for the control of the fed-batch phenol degradation by the yeast Candida tropicalis. The control system of the bioreactor consists of a control unit Micro-DCU 300 and a personal computer containing the MFCS/win software from B. Braun Biotech International with the system upgrade in MS Excel. In the environment of MFCS/win and MS Excel, a control program for phenol dosing on basis of measuring the saturation of the medium by dissolved oxygen was designed. This program is able to prevent the substrate inhibition. In addition, it enables the operator to change important parameters such as the amount of the dose during the cultivation. The program was tested and it is commonly used.
