Description
  • Visbreaking of petroleum vacuum residue with and without 20 wt % of polyethylene was studied. Experiments were carried out in a rotating autoclave in the temperature range 400 - 430 °C, at 30 minutes reaction time and under pressure of approx. 5 MPa. Under mild reaction conditions, polyethylene was not cracked. Yields of toluene insolubles from visbreaking experiments performed at temperatures over 420 °C reflected mild polyethylene cracking into toluene soluble residue fraction boiling above 560 °C
