Description
  • Plant needles have been often utilized as bioindicator of environmental pollution. Different extraction techniques employing various solvents /e.g. chloroform, dichloromethane, n-hexane, cyclohexane, and acetone/ are widely used both for specific extraction of components of needles and for extraction of pollutants. The aim of this study is to follow the extraction procedures by optical microscopy and Raman spectroscopy/microscopy to elucidate both the changes in surface morphology and chemical composition. FT Raman spectra both of needles and extracts are compared. The effects of (i) type of solvent, (ii) time of extraction and usage of sonication were examined.
