Description
  • The phase diagrams ln(PO2)-x and T-x of the La-Sr-Mn-O system were calculated for two selected cross sections, namely along the lines La1-xSrxMnOy and (La1-x Srx)2MnOy. For the former one, the perovskite phase La1-xSrxMnO3-d coexists with a stoichiometric hexagonal SrMnO3 and the solubility of Sr increases with increasing T and decreasing PO2, as d decreases. At even lower PO2, (La1-x Srx)2MnO4 and MnO are formed at the expense of La1-xSrxMnO3+d , whose stability field starts to shrink. Similarly, for the latter series the solubility of La in (La1-x Srx)2MnO4 increases from almost stoichiometric Sr2MnO4 (PO2~10-4, 1373 K) with decreasing PO2 to the entire range (PO2~10-13, 1373 K). The same effect is achieved by increasing T. The pseudothernary phase diagrams La2O3-SrO-MnOx were eventually constructed for selected values of T and PO2.
