Description	In the years 1992-1998 eight beef cattle breeds (Angus, Blonde d´ Aquitaine, Charolais, Czech Pied, Hereford, Limousin, Piemontese and Simmental) were tested and the birth weight, 210-day and 365 day weight, as well as the appropriate average daily gain s were analysed by means of the least squares method. The comparison of breeds and traits was based on the overall means ( ) and phenotypic standard deviations ( P). Genetic standard deviations were used to compare the genetic variability of breeds.
