| - The presentation deals with the damage potential of forest soils in the mountain elevations of the Giant Mts. These sites were less intensively influenced by human activities comparing to lower altitudes, but their character was changed considerably too. Soils on these locations are more sensitive to the changes of conditions and factors of pedogenesis. Despite the short-term action of anthropogenic effects, the pedogenetic factors were changed profoundly also in middle and higher locations of the mountain range. The utilization of these areas lasts since 13th century. The colonists cut, burned and changed forests into fields, pastures and meadows. The large-scale effects were registered with extended deforestation for the silver mining in the Kutná Hora region in the 16th to 17th centuries. One of basic pedogenetic factors, the tree species composition, was changed, despite the other (bedrock, climate) stayed stable. Uneven-aged, differentiated and mixed forests of spruce, fir and beech were r
