Description
| - Agriculture machines are exposed to rough conditions in agriculture and so the sensors have to be as resistant to those conditions and thus as simple as possible. Non-contacting methods for sensing material properties and crop yield determination are the best solution from that point of view. Capacitance principle based technique can be used for forage material mass determination in order to utilize obtained data for yield maps creation. A parallel plate capacitance sensor was designed for our measurement. The capacitor was a part of an experimental oscillating circuit. The static laboratory measurements were carried out in summer 2005 with different forage crops at different maturity stages, at different levels of moisture content and with different sample weights. The results showed that there is a strong relationship between the weight of material and output sensor’s signal and it is possible to recommend this experimental method for further research and development.
