| - The topic of the paper is sensing of agricultural material’s properties and crop yield determination - namely forages. Non-contact methods are the best solution for thi purpose especially for rough conditions in agriculture. The capacitance sensor based technique can be used for forage material mass determination in order to utilize obtained data for yield maps creation.The paper concerns the research of an original design of the capacitance sensor (capacitor with two parallel plates). The capacitor was a part of an experimental oscillating circuit. The static laboratory measurements were carried out with different forage crops at different maturity stages, at different levels of moisture content and with different sample weights. The capacitor output data were further processed, statistically evaluated to find out relationships between the weight of material and output sensor’s signal.
