  • A capacitance sensor made up of two parallel metal plates was constructed. This sensor was connected together with a capacitance meter MESTECH my-6013 working with 800 Hz driving frequency. The first measurements were static laboratory measurements carried out with the aim to prove the principle and measuring sensitivity of the measuring device to predict the weight of wet plant material between the capacitance sensor plates. The measurements were influenced by a relatively high measurement error and are not to be recommended for the future research using the described circuit. Nevertheless, the insulation of parallel plates on the inner side can improve the measurement accuracy and therefore this modification of the measuring circuit can be recommended for future investigation.
