Description	For centuries milk has been one of the most important animal products for human consumption. As time went by, consumers became more critical. Today's consumer demands high-quality end products, which are produced according to the highest standards. As aresult, chain control will take a prominent position in the years to come, focusing particularly on acquiring new insights, technologies and techniques. In this way, developments within the agricultural industry can continue to go on. Previously acquiredknowledge ensured that more milk is being produced from fewer cows. Increasing insight into genetics, management and nutrition are some examples of knowledge that was gained in the past. This led to a reduction in the number of dairy farms and to an increase in the level of mechanisation and automation on the farms.
