  • Small plot trials were carried out in the field in the Middle Bohemia in 2005 - 2006. Aim of experiment was to check biological efficiency and selectivity of herbicide Merlin 750 WG (isoxaflutole) in maize in relation to the dose of herbicide (50, 100, 150, 200, and 400 g.ha-1) and simulated precipitation after herbicide application (0, 5, 30, and 40 mm). According to increasing dose of herbicide there was observed increasing efficiency to all the weed species present in plots. Nevertheless, Mercurialis annua was not totally inhibited even by 400 g.ha-1 of herbicide, especially in dry years. Effect of irrigation on efficiency of herbicide was not significant, although in all experimental years there were the highest efficiencies on treatments which were irrigated by 5 mm of water in 2 hours after application.
