Description
| - Altogether 47 species are known to occur in Europe [2]; 38 are listed in the present checklist (34 in the Czech Republic, 34 in Bohemia, 31 in Moravia, and 35 in Slovakia). Since the last version of the checklist, the number of species has not increased in either the Czech Republic or Slovakia, but faunistic knowledge was completed by two findings, one in Bohemia and one in Moravia [4, 5]). The species-richness of the psilid fauna is moderately well known in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The basic characteristics of the family were given by Iwasa (1998) [3]. The Czech species may be identified using the classical monographs by Hennig (1941) [2] or Stackelberg (1989) [10], with additions and corrections in [1, 7, 8, 9, 11]. Recently, Shatalkin (1986) [7] has revised the genera of Psilidae and has recognised only one genus, Psila.
