| - Microbial parameters (microbial biomass carbon [CMB]; K2SO4 extractable carbon [CE]) were studied in the years 2001 – 3 on the 12 afforested stands, from which one stand (East Bohemia) was on power station ashes, others (North Bohemia) were on dumps after coal mining. All localities were characterised with high level of living part of soil (CMB in organic horizons: 1283 – 3991 µg/g dry soil, respective 386 – 1058 µg/g dry soil in mineral horizons) and different metabolic activity (ratio CE/CMB 5.2 – 25.5 %; values higher than 10 % on 6 stands signalise worse microbial metabolic activity). From other analyses determination of NKjeldahl (mineral horizons: 0.05 – 0.42 %; organic horizons: 0.48 – 1.32 %) and soil organic carbon (mineral horizons: 1.04 – 6.17 %; organic horizons: 7.67 – 17.75 %) should be noted. Result of afforestation was determined by mean stand height (MSH) and mean stand diameter in breast height (DBH) of trees, which were used for the calculation of tree growth vitality (GV). From t
