| - The lysimetric water quality (NO3-N concentration) was evaluated under the swards of four grass species, five species of legumes and four legume grass mixtures in Prague (chernozem, altitude 281 m a.s.l., average annual precipitation 472 mm, average yeartemperature 9.3°C). The stands were one or three times per year cut with the mass removing or one or two times mulched. The last harvest was done always in the end of the vegetation season. The dry mass yield, the share of legumes in the yield (by weight method) and the nitrates concentration (in the beginning and in the end of the vegetation season) were analysed during 6 years. The NO3-N concentration under the grass stands was the lowest (in average from 3.9 to 7.0 mg.l-1). The extreme values were reached under Bromus marginatus Nees. ex Steud. (60.8 mg.l-1).
