Description
| - Content of barley polyphenolic complex is affected by abiotic stress factors. The aim of this report was to investigate the effect of Cd-stress on polyphenol levels in barley leaf blades, shoots and roots.Seedlings of barley cv. Kompakt germinated in redistilled water at 25 0C in the period of 4 days. Plants were then cultivated in the conditioning boxes for 28 days at stable light fluency (300 mmol.m-2.s-1) with day period 16 h, at 22 0C, humidity 60 – 80 %. Control variant without Cd and experimental variant with addition of cadmium in the form CdCl2.2H2O into nutrient medium (1.10-6 mol.L-1) were investigated. Lyophilised samples were analysed for total polyphenols (TP) spectrophotometrically with Folin-Ciocalteau´s reagentand Cd content by AAS method .Cd-stress caused the statistically significant Cd and TP increase in plant parts. The highest TP increase was found in blades, the lowest in roots. Enhancement of Cd content in all treated parts of plant was estimated, the highest in roots and the l
