Description
  • The botanical composition, standing biomass yield and forage value of moderately grazed patches managed under extensive (EG) and intensive (IG) grazing intensities were studied on an experimental pasture in upland of the Jizerké hory Mts. (lat. 51°20' N, Long. 15°02' E). A higher number of species was found under EG (28) than under IG (17). The calculated forage value showed that under both treatments the pasture biomass had good quality, however the majority of the species belonged to the second class(Festuca rubra and Agrostis capillaris), and high quality species as Poa pratensis and Lathyrus pratensis were in low proportion. Species under EG belonging to the first class reached 25 points compared to 15 points under IG. Despite of non significant differences in total standing biomass yield there were found significant differences in the biomass yield of individual species.
