Description
  • The paper deals with the determination of force holding the artillery projectile in the barrel when rammed. The requirements of the STANAG and Czech Defence Standards (COS) regarding ramming devices are updated by the new knowledge. The main contribution is to show how to determine the course of force depending upon the projectile stroke in the different circumstances; elevation angle, ramming by hand and by motor drive and projectile friction force on the tray for example. The extraction force varies from 10 kN (mainly power drive ramming) to 20 kN (ramming by hand). Results are possible to use the in course of quality assessments after technical inspections and repairs. The introductory experiment is a frame of an experimental measurement device which might be put into service in The Czech Army in future.
