Description
| - Constant increase of requirements imposed to new structures of armed forces brings up a need for implementation of significant changes in both quantity as well as quality for new units and forces expected to face the current and future threats. Modularity, as new trend in the area of the forces generation, is being dealt with by many national as well as international top-levels institutions, seems to be, at the moment one of the optimal approaches. Aim of this article is to clarify what the modularity is, what is that good for, why and how to generate and develop new force structures based on modular units. Also, differences and comparison between “old” and “new” types of structures are described, together with highlighting the advantages the modularity approach brings. This approach, together with the new approaches in long term defence planning (CBA, CBP) is becoming one the most crucial input for the process.
