Description	The European Union as a result of the historical process of integration is currently a union of 27 Member States having developed market economies and functioning democratic government systems. The continued European Union enlargement process expanding the Union through the accession of Central and Eastern European countries derives from the European Council summit held in June 1993 which established the so called Copenhagen Criteria also referred to as the accession criteria. The aim of this paper is to attempt possible quantification of generally defined accession criteria and their application to current candidate countries aspiring to accede to the European Union. To analyse the current situation in candidate countries, authors employ multivariate statistical techniques and data mining methods which take into consideration the multivariate properties of the data sets used as input variables corresponding with the quantified indicators of the accession criteria.
