Description
  • The research was aimed at monitoring the impact of combat activities on the content of selected organic semivolatile compounds, i.e. polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) at the Dedice Military Training Area (MTA). The methodology of sampling was elaborated together with the way of locating the place of sampling and its documentation. The real content of PAH was monitored after the extraction of soil by an organic solvent. The content of all 16 PAHs was determined according to U.S. EPA (U. S. EPA. 2007) and the environmental risk resulting from the occurrence of these compounds was assessed. The outcomes proved that the intensity of combat activities have impact on the real content of PAH in soils at MTA. Local conditions also have an impact on the contents of PAH in soil at individual sampling locations. Some samples exceed the PAH limit values set by various criteria, e.g. in U.S. EPA.
