  • In eukaryotic cells the activity of cyclin dependent kinases (CDKs) is precisely regulated. This regulation maintains a proper coordination of the individual steps in cell division cycle. Due to the fact that the family of natural CDK inhibitors (CDKIs) belong to the most frequently mutated proteins in cancer cells, molecules that could mimic their biological activities are attractive candidates for anti-cancer treatment. The aim of this study was use 2-DE coupled with multivariate principal component analysis (PCA) to characterize the quantitative changes in the protein composition of the CEM T-lymphoblastic leukemia cell line after treatment with bohemine (BOH), a synthetic olomoucin derived CDKI.
