  • V apikální žlázové oblasti dospělce Proteocephalus torulosus (Batch, 1786) jsou přítomny dva typy ekrinních žlázových buněk. První typ jednobuněčné žlázky produkuje velké elektrondenzní granule různé velikosti. Druhý typ obsahuje malé elektrondenzní granule. Většina buněk tvoří žlázky s velkými granulami; žlázky s malými granulami jsou málo časté. Sekrece u obou typů žlázových buněk se koncentruje v apikálních částech cytonu a ve vývodech ústících vně. Jsou diskutovány možná funkce obou typů žlázových buněk a různé části rozhraní %22microthrix%22 na skolexu. Unikátní stavba frontální části skolexu P. torulosus a její odlišnost od Proteocephalus macrocephalus, P. longicollis a P. percae odpovídá údajnému základnímu fylogenetickému postavení P. torulosus mezi evropskými druhy rodu Proteocephalus (cs)

The first type of unicellular gland produces large electron-dense granules of various sizes. The second type contains small electron-dense granules. Most cells form glands with large granules; glands with small granules are infrequent. The secretion of both types of gland cells is concentrated in the apical parts of the cyton and in the ducts opening to the exterior. Possible functions of both types of gland cells and different parts of the scolex microthrix border are discussed. The unique structure of the frontal part of the scolex of P. torulosus and its differences from Proteocephalus macrocephalus, P. longicollis and P. percae correlate well with the putative basal phylogenetic position of P. torulosus among European species of Proteocephalus
