Description	Through a spatially explicit, individual-based model of a sexually reproducing population, we show that there exist ecological constraints for possible (co)evolution of mate choice and pair maintenance behaviour. Model také naznačuje, že koloniální druhy s aktivní strategií vyhledávání partnera přežívají při vyšších rozvodových rychlostech ve srovnání s méně koloniálními druhy hledajícími si partnery náhodně, a že dlouhověké druhy přežívají při vyšších nárocích na svého partnera a nižším stupni partnerské věrnosti než druhy krátkověké (cs)
