  • V laboratorních mikrokosmech se studovala eliminace Vibrio cholerae (inokulováno 10^7 buněk/ml) společenstvem brakické vody (Laguna Mecoacán, Tabasko, Mexiko), frakcionovaném pomocí filtrace. Žraní nálevníka Cyclidium glaucoma se kvantifikovalo užitím fluorescenčně značeného V. cholerae O1. I když nálevníci nepřijímali V. cholerae jako hlavní zdroj potravy, byli jej schopni účinně eliminovat. Obohacení mikrokosmů chitinem podpořilo růst všech baktérií, ale ne tak významně V. cholerae, což nepřímo přispělo k rozvoj společenstva prvoků. Zjevně však byly hlavní příčinou eliminace V. cholerae změny uvnitř bakteriálního společenstva, jeř V. cholerae přerostlo. (cs)

Feeding of a ciliate, Cyclidium glaucoma was evaluated using fluorescently labelled V. cholerae O1. Even though V. cholerae was not exploited as the major food source, ciliates were able to eliminate it efficiently. An addition of chitin directly supported the growth of bacteria, although not so much of V. cholerae, and indirectly the growth of the protistan assemblage. Generally, the changes in a bacterial assemblage structure were the most important in V. cholerae elimination.
