Description
  • The pelagic ichthyoplanktonic phase seems to be obligatory in perch (Perca fluviatilis), pike perch (Stizostedion lucioperca) and ruffe (Gymnocephalus cernuus). The duration of this phase decreases from perch to ruffe. The planktonic phase is more pronounced in deep stratified reservoirs compared to shallow mixed reservoirs. Obligatory ichthyoplankton phase lasts for relatively short period of 2-3 weeks. After this, 0+ cohort of perch and pikeperch splits into littoral and pelagic fry which always coexists in the same reservoir. Inshore fry seems to be rather resident in the shallow littoral while the offshore fry often execute apparent vertical migrations. The larvae 8-15 mm long often create acoustic scattering layers which can be observed by echosounders during the day hours at the depths of low light intensity (6-20 m). These layers migrate up during cloudy weather and especially during the evening. Juvenile fish switch to alternative antipredatory behavioral tactics of shoaling.

  • Pelagická ichtyoplanktonní fáze života je zřejmě obligátní u okouna (Perca fluviatilis), candáta (Stizostedion lucioperca) a ježdíka (Gymnocephalus cernuus). Délka trvání této fáze klesá od okouna k ježdíkovi. Planktonní fáze je výraznější v hlubokých stratifikovaných nádržích než v mělkých míchaných. Tato fáze trvá relativně krátce, 2-3 týdny. Poté se 0+ kohorta okouna a candáta rozdělí na litorální a pelagické subpopulaci, které se pravidelně vyskytují společně v téže nádrži. Zdá se, že litorální plůdek zůstává trvale v mělkém litorálu, zatímco pelagický plůdek vykonává výrazné vertikální migrace. Larvy velikosti 8-15 mm vytvářejí odrazovou vrstvu, která je pozorovatelná akusticky - echoloty během denních hodin v hloubkách 6-20 m. Tato vrstva migruje ke hladině při zatažené obloze a zejména ve večerních hodinách. Později juvenilní ryby vytvářejí hejna, jako další formu ochrany před dravci. (cs)
