Description	Tributaries to Plešné (PL) and Čertovo (CT) lakes were analyzed monthly in the 1998 hydrological year to describe seasonal changes in their chemical compositions. All tributaries were acidic with annual volume weighted mean (VWM) pH from 4.0 to 4.5. Annual VWM concentrations of ions varied from 350 to 460 eq l<sup>-1</sup> with the following composition: base cations (BC), 26; H<sup>+</sup>, 14; ionic Al (Al<sub>i</sub><sup>n+</sup>), 10; sulphate, 29; nitrate, 10; chloride, 4; and organic anions (R<sup>-</sup>), 7. Concentrations of BC were positively correlated to silica (P<0.01) and negatively to R<sup>-</sup> (P<0.05) in all tributaries. In PL tributaries, BC were correlated both to sulphate (P<0.001) and nitrate (P<0.01), while only tonitrate (P<0.001) in CT tributaries. Al<sub>i</sub><sup>n+</sup> was positively correlated to nitrate (P<0.05) in all tributaries. Concentrations of P and organically bound Al and Fe were related to organic carbon (P<0.05).
