  • Populations of soil nematodes were studied in vital Norway spruce forests, standing dead spruce forests destroyed by bark beetles, and in clearings left after logging dead trees. Investigations were carried out in the Šumava Mountains (Bohemian Forest; Czech Republic) in localities over 1000 m a s.l. The total mean abundance of nematodes in vital spruce forests was 1817 000-4877 000 individuals/m2, in dead forests 1536 000-2339 000 individuals/m2, and in clearings 1342 000-3864 000 individuals/m2. The total mean biomass was 442-777, 493-730, and 382-582 mg.m-2, respectively. Vital spruce forests were characterized by a predominance of Filenchus, the abundance of which was lower in dead spruce forests and after tree logging. Clearings were characterized by a predominance of Aglenchus, the abundance of which increased with the age of clearing and increased proportion of grass in understorey plant cover.   • Populace půdních hlístic byly studovány v živých smrkových lesích, mrtvých nekácených smrkových lesích, které byly zničeny kůrovci, a na pasekách vzniklých po vykácení mrtvých stromů. Výzkum byl prováděn na Šumavě na stanovištích s nadmořskou výškou nad 1 000 m. Celková průměrná abundance hlístic v živých smrkových lesích byla 1817 x 103 – 4877 x 103 jedinců na m2, v mrtvých smrkových lesích 1536 x 103 – 2339 x 103 jedinců na m2 a na pasekách 1342 x 103 – 3864 x 103 jedinců na m2. Celková průměrná biomasa hlístic na těchto skupinách stanovišť byla 442 – 777, 493 – 730 a 382 – 582 mg na m2. Živé smrkové lesy se vyznačovaly převahou hlístic rodu Filenchus, jejichž abundance byla nižší v mrtvých smrkových lesích a po vykácení stromů. Paseky se vyznačovaly převahou hlístic rodu Aglenchus, jejichž abundance vzrůstala se stářím paseky a se vzrůstajícím podílem trav v rostlinném krytu.
