| - The aim of this study was to quantify the efficiency of different lengths of beach seine nets for each diel period in freshwater reservoirs. Nets of 10, 20 and 50 m length were tested in an enclosed area framed by a 200 m long net. The net efficiency estimate was significantly different between day and night catches. At night, the efficiency estimate of nets depended on the size and species of the fish. Shorter nets (10 and 20 m net) had lower efficiency estimate for bigger fish and for bream (Abramis brama). At day, especially short nets exhibited a spuriously high efficiency estimate, probably due to the concentrating (chasing) effect of the hauling ropes. In both diel periods the variance in efficiency estimate decreased with length of net. A model relating the efficiency estimate and net length was developed with the data acquired.

- Cílem této studie bylo kvantifikovat účinnost zátahové sítě v závislosti na její délce a denní periodě. Sítě o délce 10, 20 a 50 m byly testovány v příbřežní oblasti ohraničené 200 dlouhou sítí. Odhad účinnosti těchto sítí se signifikantně lišil mezi dnem a noci. V noci odhad účinnosti jednotlivých sítí závisel na délce a druhu lovených ryb. Kratší sítě (10 a 20 m) měly nižší odhad účinnosti pro ryby s větší délkou a z testovaných druhů pro cejna velkého (Abramis brama). Ve dne krátké sítě (10 a 20 m) vykazovaly překvapivě velkou účinnost. Tento efekt byl pravděpodobně způsoben naháněcím efektem bočních tažných lan. V obou denních periodách variance odhadu účinnosti klesala s délkou sítě. Na základě získaných dat byl vyvinut model závislosti odhadu účinnosti sítě a délky sítě. (cs)
